Affluent Community Fund has awarded a grant to help employ support workers to extend evening services to all.

This small band of volunteer gardeners do such a sterling job of keeping the village looking great with lovely plant pots.

We are delighted to announce that The Affluent Financial Planning Community Fund has awarded £1,000 to Parklea Branching Out in Port Glasgow.

Parklea Branching Out was established in 1997 to help to develop local individuals with support needs to fulfil their potential. Parklea use horticulture as a vehicle to provide a variety of different training, work experience, supported employment, recreational and social facilities for a variety of clients including adults and children with learning and/or physical disabilities, those with mental health problems, school leavers, young and long term unemployed, elderly groups and community groups. Parklea also provide training to SVQ level in horticulture and employability programmes.

In recognising the therapeutic value of a horticultural environment, Parklea have adopted a holistic client-centred approach towards education, training and employment, with the aim of achieving optimum independence, dignity and fulfilment, while respecting the individuality and rights of each person.

Affluent Community Fund is delighted to support such a wonderful charity, and to give back to our local community.

This money will be used to purchase 14 all season hammocks for 2 scout leaders and 12 children for all weather camping trips.

This charitable grant from the Affluent Community Fund means that in addition to the Scout Group awarding Zodiac bronze and silver awards, they can now award Zodiac Gold and Platinum awards too.

We purchased a set of hoodies for the members of the group, to be used when they do shows for residents of local care homes.
